Silverado Engine Defects Class Action

About the class action

A class action has been launched against GM Specialty
Vehicles (GMSV) and its parent company, General Motors,
on behalf of certain Silverado 1500 owners in Australia.

The claim alleges that some Silverado 1500 vehicles fitted with the L87 6.2L V8 petrol engine have a defect that may pose a risk of engine problems and, in some cases, complete engine failure.

The class action aims to hold General Motors accountable. It seeks to provide:

  • Compensation for loss of vehicle value
  • Extended vehicle warranty
  • Free replacement engine.

You can register your interest if:

  • You own or previously owned a Silverado 1500
  • You purchased or leased the vehicle in Australia (new or used)
  • Your vehicle is fitted with the L87 6.2L V8 petrol engine

You may still be eligible to register your interest even if you haven’t had engine issues, or if your engine has already been repaired or replaced (including under warranty).
